Virat Kohl: Champions Trophy More Competitive Than World Cup

Set to kick off the cricket season by defending their Champions Trophy title in London this June, Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli addressed the media on Wednesday.

Hounded with questions about India's much-awaited opening game against Pakistan on 4 June, Kohli said 'as cricketers, it is just a game of cricket' and nothing out of the ordinary.

Kohli conceded that Champions Trophy is more competitive than the World Cup, with top eight teams battling it out in a condensed schedule. He also said, "I would never play for redemption, my only motivation is to keep winning games for my country and the conditions I am playing in don't really matter".

Before kicking off their Champions Trophy campaign, India play warm-up matches against New Zealand on 28 May and Bangladesh on 30 May.
