Railways asked to pay Rs. 75,000 as compensation to passenger whose reserved seat was occupied



The Delhi's State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has asked the Indian Railways to pay a sum of Rs. 75,000 to a Dakshin Express passenger for the inconvenience he incurred after his reserved seat was taken up by another passenger.

Reports said V Vijay Kumar was travelling from Vishakhapatnam to New Delhi on March 30, 2013 on Dakshin Express when the incident took place. He claimed his reserved lower berth was occupied by some people who entered the compartment at Bina station in Madhya Pradesh. He also said the lot caused inconvenience to him as well as other passengers on the train.

Vijay Kumar said he couldn't find a ticket checker or a railway official to report the issue.
