Accused of trafficking, woman lynched by angry mob in West Bengal


In a shocking incident, an unidentified middle aged woman, accused of trafficking women has been lynched in Murshidabad district. The incident took place today in Sahapara, under the Raghunathganj Police station.

The middle aged woman was apparently caught by locals who alleged that she was trying to kidnap young girls from the area. On Tuesday morning, the woman was allegedly caught red-handed along with three of her accomplices, who managed to flee.

The woman was then tied to a tractor and brutally thrashed by an enraged mob who also cut off a portion of her hair. The lady was bleeding profusely from her nose when police reached the spot and rescued her.

The victim was later, identified as 52-year-old Otera Bibi, is a resident of Mithipur village under Raghunathganj police station. She was apparently undergoing psychiatric treatment for over a year.

She was later rushed her to the Jangipur Sub Divisional Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Police is probing the case and no arrests have been made so far.
